Create a listing that describes the item and customization, and set the price for the total cost. If this will take you extra time to ship, be sure to adjust your handling time in the listing form.
Put something in the title and description that the listing is for buyer e****3 only. (You can use the first and last letters/numbers of his ID with **** between them to disguise his ID from others.
Send the item ID or link to the listing so the buyer can make the purchase.

OP1 year agoThank you for the quick response. This is very helpful. This will ensure someone else does not buy the item.
Has anyone ever had a problem with the buyer not paying for the finished customized or made to order product? It is costing me a little bit more to add the extras, I want to be sure the buyer is genuine and will pay the cost we agreed on. Will eBay guarantee the customer buys the made to order product?

You would wait for the buyer to pay to start the customization.
