Customer support and gift cards are worthless
Since eBay customer support is horrible, I wonder if someone could give me some help. I have a good amount of money in eBay gift cards loaded on here. I’m trying to purchase some Civil War Confederate currency but eBay apparently has rules against using eBay gift cards to buy coins and bills. Of course there is no way to know that until after you try to buy something with them. I guess I can understand not being able to purchase what is considered legal tender. However, I’m trying to purchase confederate currency that has been obsolete since 1865. That makes it only what could be a collectible antique no different than a civil war document, bullet, belt buckle, swords, bayonets, cannonball fuses, etc Those things you can purchase with an eBay gift card. It does not make sense to me. Of course, I’ve been calling eBay’s customer support number for the last 2 days and no matter what time a day I call it says that it is outside of normal business hours.
Does anyone have any advice on how I could rectify this or talk to and actual live person? Thanks

The items would have to be listed in the correct category, i.e. collectibles, instead of in the coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be “bullion†category for it to be eligible to be purchased with an Ebay gift card.

"Where can I use an eBay gift card?
eBay gift cards can be used to buy almost anything on eBay.com. They may not be used to buy other eBay gift cards, third party gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be “bullion†(for example, gold, silver, and other precious metals in the form of coins, bars, or ingots). Note that there are limits on redeeming eBay gift cards, including time and spending threshold limits."
Do you use social media? The agents there usually take a day or two to answer, but they also have more time to research an issue.

Mentor1 year agoebay does not have a phone number that you can call. They must call you.
