It is against eBay policy to exchange contact information prior to a payment being made. This is to prevent many types of scams and to ensure that eBay fees are not evaded. If a scammer obtains your email address, the scammer can send a convincing but phony "you've been paid -- ship now" message.
Best to keep all contact through eBay so you are protected if there is a problem.
