Customer Requested Delayed Shipment
Hello,
Just sold a camera for $380 + $20 shipping. Customer advised that he would not be home during the coming 2-3 weeks, so he asked me to delay the shipment until further advice (after he returns home). eBay notified me that I've been paid, but I do not see the funds in my account. Is this delayed shipment request a "red flag"? Is there a potential problem with the customer's request? I've never seen a customer make a delayed shipment request before. Please kindly comment. Thanks! Steve

If you do not ship within your handling time you will get dinged for a late shipment. 3 weeks is along time to hold an item and lots can happen in that time for both you and the buyer. What you can do is message the buyer and let them know eBay requires you to ship within your handling time and you are unable to delay shipping. Ask if they want you to cancel the sale.
You can cancel the sale as buyer requested. If you want to hold the item for them and list it again, when they can have it shipped, so they can repurchase you can offer to do that. If you do not want to hold it and want to list right away that is your choice.
If they want you to ship to different address you can not change it and will have to cancel the sale and list again so they can repurchase with the new address.
Asking to delay a shipment is not necessarily a red flag, life happens and plans change.
