That path of least resistance is to have the Buyer message you and ask for a cancellation. You can then cancel using the reason, "Buyer requested ..." and avoid a strike on your account.

Next, you Relist the item and change the shipping method via the drop-down menu in the shipping section to Local pick up only. You may want to add offline payments and accept cash. If the Buyer purchases through eBay they are still protected by the eBay Money back Guarantee but if they want to return it they would have to bring the item back to you instead of shipping it back since it was sold via Local pick up.
