Customer made partial payment after delivery. How to collect the rest
Summary: 2015uslauen expressed concern about discrepancies in their eBay invoice, stating they were owed more than was deposited to their bank after selling an item. mam98031 explained how eBay payments work, including fees and shipping costs. 2015uslauen clarified they were confused about the amounts rather than the timing of payments. mr_lincoln and comics-scifi-collectibles offered guidance on understanding the fees and handling customer expectations about item quantity, suggesting ways to resolve the issue, including a refund process. 2015uslauen decided to refund the buyer and return the item, acknowledging an error in the listing.
My eBay invoice stated I was owed $213 (after fees) for an item I had shipped the week before. It stated the customer had paid $159 and that was to be posted to my bank. How do I collect the remainder of the funds

OP2 weeks agoOK the finances are now clear to me. This is my first (and likely last) time selling anything on eBay. The Buyer has reached out and asked for the other two scuppers saying the deal was for three. I would rather just refund the money and get the one back. Is there a way to do that through eBay?

Mentor2 weeks ago · Edited@2015uslauen Yes. Apologize to the buyer and explain you made a new seller mistake. The buyer needs to file a not as described return request case. You pay return shipping and then refund the buyer from the case.

Mentor2 weeks ago · Edited@2015uslauen I wanted to give you a tip on your listing. It appears that you are selling these ONE at time for $350.00 You need to revise your listing and remove the THREE from the title. Just keep the quantity available which is now 2. Don't be surprised though if your buyer complains that they did not receive 3. Also I would ship these Ground Advantage, you would need to change the shipping method on the listing, it will cost much less than Priority.
In regards to your Payout amount>>>
That sounds frustrating.
Your "available funds" are a running total, so there may be other fees from other listings and sales intermingled. Each payout can cover multiple transactions.
If you click PayOut ID here, it will have a complete breakdown of that Payout:
https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin/payouts
From your gross sales (Price + Shipping, if any + Sales Tax) eBay will deduct
Sales Tax (remitted to the state)
Shipping labels
Final Value Fees FVF
Insertion fees (if any)
Promoted listing fees (if any)
Store Fees (if any)
etc.
There is a nice video on this page about how to find your fees: https://export.ebay.com/en/fees-and-payments/seller-fees/
Here is a help page where you can learn about selling fees:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822
All of the deductions should be listed here:
https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin/transactions
Please look at the breakdown here of your payouts here:

OP2 weeks agoMy question is not about payment timing. The issue is the dollar amounts identified as due and payable by eBay and the amount remitted to my bank

Mentor2 weeks agoWhen Ebay sends off your payment, it would be the total about [less sales taxes] that a buyer pays for the item and for the shipping. Then they subtract your selling fees and if you do your shipping label on Ebay, then you pay for the cost of the shipping then as well.
Do the buyer pays you for the product plus whatever shipping is stated in the listing at the time of purchase. So let's say that is $350 plus $110 for shipping. Total $460. Then you package and ship the item and you pay $110 for shipping and the selling fees for the item should be around $50 or a little less. So there is 460 - 110 - 50 = 300.00 left over.
Now if what you are seeing is significantly different, we need to look at the details.
What did the buyer pay you for the product?
What did the buy pay you for shipping?
What did YOU pay to carrier for the shipping?
What did Ebay charge you for selling fees?

Use the last link that @comics-scifi-collectibles provided in their post. OR on your sold item click on the Order details. Over on the right will be a breakdown of what the Buyer paid you and all the fees and shipping you paid. What is left is eventually part of your Available funds.
I looked at the listing and in the title Scuppers is plural and in the Item Specifics it states Number of items in set = 3. So your sold item was for all three of those items.
I am also seeing $ 166 to ship from CA to PA so depending on where your customer is from the total sale plus sales tax (if applicable) was probably over $ 400 easy.
If you Promoted the item then the % of advertising was calculated on the TOTAL the Buyer paid, meaning item price, paid shipping and sales tax.

Mentor2 weeks ago@2015uslauen A buyer of an item like yours does NOT have ANY option to make a partial payment. They must pay for it all. The $350 + shipping to their zip code. For me that shows as $110.16, but if you use calculated shipping, that amount could be different for the buyer in a different zip code than I am in.

Mentor2 weeks agoI always encourage new sellers to do their homework BEFORE starting to list on Ebay. It is a JOB and should be treated as such. For the very basics, you should be reading the User Agreement you agreed to so that you could start selling on this site. As well as policy pages on HOW TO list an item as well as the policy pages on how your money is processed. These are just the basics. Lots more to learn, but you really should do your homework BEFORE listing your first item.
When funds will be available
You can see when your funds will be released in Seller Hub or My eBay. However, your funds may be unavailable for longer if we have concerns about the order.
Here are some situations where transaction holds could be applied to a seller's funds and when those funds would typically be released.
A brand-new private seller
New private sellers will typically receive their funds within 2 days after delivery confirmation (for items sent with an ebay label), 7 days after delivery confirmation (for items sent with a third-party label), or 31 days after the buyer pays (for items sent without tracking) while they build a consistent track record. Once they've qualified to receive their funds faster, they'll typically receive their funds within 2 days of the buyer’s payment.
