Customer claiming an item was purchased fraudulently
Greetings! I rarely sell, but this is the first time I've ever had an issue selling.
I sold a virtual item (a code for some exclusive Fortnite stuff), for 70 dollars. The listing made it clear the code would be sent through ebay messages once paid, no refunds.
Item was purchased. Customer paid. Code was sent. Customer thanked me.
I figured the end of it.
I woke up this morning to an email from the buyers account "my account was hacked. I did not purchase this. I need a refund."
Now, I've never had anyone try this before, but in the event they did i had something already written up:
I am sorry to hear you are having issues with account security, however, the item that was purchased was a one-time-use digital code that was sent in this message as seen in previous responses.
Kindly contact eBay directly and they will be able to help you. If your account was compromised we are both protected by eBay from situations like this.
Is there anything else I can/should do? Aa of yet, they haven't put in a refund request.
Given that it's a digital item, am I just out of luck? Any insight would be appreciated! It was 70 bucks, which I'd really hate to lose if I can help it!
Thanks inadvance for the assistance!
