Customer abusing a return policy
I recently sold an item that was initially returned to me because the buyer claimed it was defective. After receiving it back, I relisted the device clearly “AS-IS for parts or repair, no returns”, and it was sold again under those conditions.
After receiving the item, the new buyer opened a case claiming that the device was damaged during shipping. However, the photo provided shows a device that appears physically undamaged. The buyer also mentioned battery corrosion in the battery compartment and that the screen flashes.
These issues were already the reason the item was sold AS-IS for parts, meaning the buyer understood that the device might not function properly and was being sold without returns.
Despite this, eBay approved the return request and froze my payout. I am trying to understand why the return was approved when the item was clearly listed and sold as AS-IS for parts with no returns.

Mentor5 months agoebay does not recognize AS-IS. If the buyer files a returns request using the reason Not as described/damaged, you will accept the return and pay for return shipping. If you refuse, ebay can refund the buyer from your funds, you don't get credited for the FVF charged, a defect is recorded on your account for an unresolved transaction, and the buyer does not have to return the item.
