CREDIT CARD NUMBER SECURITY
My question is.... Do sellers have access to your credit card information when you make a purchase? I recently purchased some men's cologne ({seller} "tried and didn't like it") dated 12/26. Upon buying it, the seller responded "sorry I no longer have the item. Would you like a full refund?" It struck me as odd because of the stupidity of the question. Of course I want a full refund when you can't send me the item!
I seldom use this credit card (last used Nov). I just got a fraud notice for several large and unauthorized charges occurring on 12/28.
Can a seller get your credit card information and use / sell it when you make an Ebay purchase? IF so, how do I report that I suspect this seller is using his account for this purpose?

eBay sellers DO NOT have access to buyers’ payment information. They aren’t even told what method the buyer used to pay.
Report any unauthorized charges directly to your credit card company.
[The seller likely asked you if you wanted to cancel because sellers don’t receive a defect on their eBay account when the buyer requests the cancellation.]

Mentor2 years agoeBay does not share your credit card number with the seller or anyone else. Sellers are paid by eBay via an ACH transfer directly to the seller's checking account, not via credit card. Your credit card number is stored encrypted and the card number does not appear anywhere in your eBay account, other than the last four digits to allow you to identify which card you are using when you make a purchase.
