credit card dispute after filing claim with ebay?
some background. bought an item as SEALED on ebay. Received an item that had a tear perforation that had been opened, so the item was not received as SEALED. Requested return/refund. Was told by ebay agent that the item was covered under the bay guarantee. Am a bit anxious about waiting for the time allotment for ebay to step in and what if they find in seller favor. Has anyone ever done a Credit card dispute after having lost a claim through ebay and still win the credit card dispute? Quite honestly, just wondering if I should go ahead and file a cc dispute rather than waiting on ebay to step in which is 5 more days.

Mentor3 years agoIf you start a credit card dispute, any open eBay case will be immediately closed.
If the seller does not cooperate in providing a prepaid label or a refund after a return has been delivered according to the tracking, you should be able to get eBay to step in after three business days, and the refund should be automatic at that point.
In general, you are better off going through eBay first. Only if you exhaust all your eBay options, then open a case with PayPal (if you used PayPal). Finally, if PayPal cannot help, open a case with your credit card issuer as a last resort. PayPal and most credit cards offer some protection for up to six months, while eBay's protection is only available within thirty days of the last estimated delivery date or reception of the item.
