Created my own shipping label instead of prepaid label
I recently sold an item and instead of using the prepaid label I shipped it a faster and more secure way and paid for it myself. I went into my seller centre to add the correct tracking number and I am unable to do so and it says to contact customer service. I have to "print" the prepaid label so I could get the buyers full address. Anyone know how to add the correct tracking number?

OP3 weeks agoHad Ebay support call me and t hey said they couldn't update the tracking number and I should just call them when the item shows delivered and they will release the funds......This seems like pretty ghetto support by Ebay

That sounds frustrating.
You will get paid, even if there is no tracking, your money will just be held longer.
Are you using the website or the app when you try to add the tracking number?
At a minimum, you should be able to add a 2nd tracking number
In addition, you should cancel the prepaid label to get a refund. Plus that may allow you to add a new tracking number.

OP3 weeks agoThere is no option to edit tracking. Only "view tracking". Ebay thinks I shipped this item using the prepaid label they gave me which is obviously not the case. It was not going to authentication.

Mentor2 weeks agoYou shouldn't be able to "edit" tracking, ever. You are the seller, not the Carrier. Only the Carrier has any control over what the tracking says and that is how it should be.
I'm not sure what you are considering a "prepaid label". If you created the shipping label outside of Ebay, then there is NO LABEL created IN Ebay that you paid for. Unless you are saying you did both. Created a shipping label in Ebay and then went outside of Ebay and created another shipping label. NO label IN Ebay exists unless YOU created one. Ebay does NOT do that for you on a shipment.

Was this the card going to Authenticity?
Try adding your tracking number this way:
- Go to the Sold section of My eBay. https://www.ebay.com/mys/sold
- Click "Edit tracking"
- Click "+ additional tracking number"
- Add the actual tracking number and the carrier.
- Click "Save and Continue"
TIP: You can't edit or delete the first tracking number, and that is ok. Just add the correct number.

Here's how to cancel (or void) an unused shipping label you purchased on eBay:
- Go to Manage shipping labels: https://www.ebay.com/ship/labels/my-ebay
- Find the item you'd like to cancel the shipping label for, then from the Actions column, select CANCEL.
- Choose your reason for canceling the label.
- Select Cancel shipping label.
You have 28 days to cancel a label. The refund will come about 21 days after you cancel.

You can print a faster shipping method label on eBay, and you should use eBay labels for your items, especially as a new seller, and especially for Authenticity.
