Create a listing with variations
Hello. I'm trying to create a listing with variations (Pull-down list of items to sell). Chatted a while with eBay support but could not fix the issue...
- Been told that is doesn't work on cafr.ebay, so i tried on eBay.com and eBay.ca. No luck
- I use Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop>Sports Trading Cards>Trading Card Singles'' as the category. And i get this ''Variations are unavailable for this listing. Eligibility is limited to qualifying item categories,''
- But the category IS Valid.
- I use Microsoft Edge, and tries also with Google Chrome
- I also tried to copy a listing that has variations in it, no luck also...
Somebody can help ?

OP2 years agoThanks for your answers. Now i have variations opened. But the first thing is to add an attribute, which is the title of the pull-down list i guess... I try to add one or select one... it simply shades out the buttons and i cannot do a thing... Question: Do-i need to have an eBay store for this ? Or help !!!!

·2 years agoA store is not required. Anyone using the Advanced listing tool for desktop (aka Business Lister, Unified Lister, Seller Hub lister) can create a variation listing if the category supports it. Let me see if I have some screenshots.

If you start a variation from another variation listing, some of the Attributes and Options may already be available, and you can choose the ones you want and X-out the ones you don't.
If starting a listing from scratch, you may find this blank screen to add Variations. The "Attribute" is the name of your droplist. In cards, sellers usually have only one Attribute name (Card#), but it is possible to have up to 5 different droplists or attributes.
Then move down to the Options area. This is where card sellers list all of the names or numbers of their cards.

1) To access variations, you must use the advanced (business) listing form, not the Quick Lister for casual sellers and not the mobile app.
2) A variation listing can not be started from an existing listing, a draft, or a sell-similar. It must be started from scratch (unless that source listing is also a variation).
3) You may need to enable the variation section on the Business Listing form by clicking the triple dots at the top of the listing form and selecting the gear settings.
I have a number of variation listings, and sometimes, when starting from a "Sell one", I encounter the same message that "Variations are unavailable for this listing," etc. However, I know better, and start over from scratch or from a listing that has variations, instead of starting from one that doesn't.

I was able to start a variation listing in sports cards singles on both of these sites:
https://www.ebay.ca/
https://www.cafr.ebay.ca/
Since you are listing mostly auctions, make sure that you change your listing format from Auction to Fixed Price (Buy it now) in order to access the Variations feature.
