Crazy shipping estimates
I have several listings for dolls that are pretty small. Bidders are telling me that the USPS Ground Advantage shipping is getting calculated in the $40 to $50 range! Now that there are bids on them, I cannot change the default shipping, so I'm stuck fielding questions about these shipping rates. One buyer went through with the purchase (they didn't pay attention to the total cost) and that will have to be refunded.
I've added other shipping options, but the default is still USPS Ground Advantage. Any thoughts on the best way to handle that?

·1 year agoI just checked one of your listings, and indeed it had extremely high shipping for Ground Advantage, far more than I would ever expect. It did change when I changed my shipping location, so you have Calculated Shipping set up. Did you confirm that both the size and weight that you entered was correct? It sounds like you either put a very high weight, or oversized box dimensions, or both.
Since there are bids on the items, you cannot end those (though I would recommend ending the 4 auctions that do not have bids yet), but you can certainly provide a refund of the difference in shipping afterwards, assuming the buyers pay once they realize how much they're going to be charged. The buyers might even be able to request adjusted invoices from you after the auctions end, and then you can correct the shipping amount before they pay. There are a number of reasons the buyer might not be able to do that, though, so if they can't, you can either offer to refund the overpaid shipping after they pay, or if they're not willing to pay because of the high shipping, you can cancel the orders and relist the items so they can repurchase them (I would just list them as fixed price listings at the final selling price and send a link to the buyer so they can quickly repurchase if they're willing).
If the weight and dimensions end up being entered correctly, see if you can provide us with a screenshot of the shipping settings, and maybe we can spot something else configured incorrectly.
