Counterfeit Vehicle Parts
Hello, I own a Silverado 2500 that I primarily use to tow my family’s camper. I was in the market for some new wheel bearings/hub assembly. I looked online for the best replacement brand and came across several forums recommending the Timken brand. A quick search popped up a brand new set on eBay for $210. I purchased them in June of 2023 and didn’t get around to having a shop install them until March 2024 due to not using the truck much within that time. I took the truck for our first vacation after the new wheel bearings/hub assembly was installed and nearly lost control of my vehicle while towing the trailer as the driver side bearing locked up after about 500 miles of driving. I had a shop inspect the bearings to find that they are 100% counterfeit and both bearings had already failed with one failing catastrophically nearly killing my family and I. After looking at the sellers account that I purchased them from there are other comments of buyers stating that these parts are counterfeit. My question is what should I do in this situation? Will eBay even do anything about this? Knowing a seller is selling counterfeit parts that are responsible for holding front wheels onto 6,000+ pound trucks that are made for towing. It just seems extremely dangerous and reckless and it’s bothersome that this seller is still active.

Ebay cannot do anything for you since the 30 days for the Money Back Guarantee has passed.
Paypal allows disputes for up to 180 days, so you are passed that, too.
You may want to contact your credit/debit card company to inquire about their timeline to dispute the charge.
