Counterfeit Policy Question
Summary: bubbasbasement expressed frustration with eBay after their collectible toy listing was removed for violating the counterfeit policy. They detailed efforts to demonstrate the item's authenticity but received no specific explanations from eBay. rfmtm suggested researching how to identify fakes and modifying listings to emphasize authenticity. Despite this, bubbasbasement considered withdrawing their items from eBay entirely due to dissatisfaction with the platform's handling of the situation.
Ebay removed an item I was selling. They said it violate the Counterfeit policy. I had full pictures of the toy collectable, originally purchased in 2000, still in package unopened. UPC code, original company branding, item number etc. Others selling same item on ebay. I used to run website that sold this an other items from manufacturer and this was old stock . I appealed and was denied and I asked for detail explanation on how it violated the policy and got no explanation. They have not removed others users items that are the same or even another item I have listed that is another item number in same series of product. Why do they do this and how can I comply with a policy that should not apply to a item that is NOT counterfeit?

Mentor1 month agoYes, that is probably a good idea. Strange though your other items weren't already flagged, but the bots are very flaky and unfortunately even if you appeal they often just flag you again.
If this had been a VeRO take down, at least you would be able to fight it, but otherwise ebay gives you no easy way resolve it short of having your attorney sending a letter to ebay's legal department with proof of authenticity.

Mentor1 month agoIf you google how to tell fakes it will give you some good insights for you to check to make sure you don't have fakes yourself or what others are looking for to determine if they are real. Unfortunately ebay doesn't give you much to go on and you are now on their radar, so you need to be very careful. You might also ask about Dragon figures on the toys or collectable boards under the Explore Categories tab at the top of this page, for other sellers that have run into the same problem.

OP1 month agoThank you for the info. Maybe I just find a different place to sell, if ebay does not want my business. I have been selling this stuff for 20+ years on website and ebay.... Ridiculous.... I will pull the other item off before it gets flagged since I am on the radar now!

Mentor1 month agoDragon figures have lots of counterfeits out there. So either someone reported yours or the bots found something suspicious in the listing. Google this problem and find a list of things to check for to include in your listing to help show they are not counterfeit, like matching serial numbers, close ups of give away details of fakes, etc.

OP1 month agoOk, so if I remove the figures from the box and take pictures showing up close Dragon copy right and logos, can I relist the item? I will rewrite my description if necessary, maybe add them to the existing auction and sell them together instead of separate? Any suggestions? Or do I just not list them at all.
rfmtm
Mentor1 month agoDo not relist until the matter is resolved.
What type of item was it?
What is the Item Number of the product that it still listed?
