Counterfeit item? Seller kicked off eBay before it arrived.
I ordered a piece of software that arrived in different packaging than original. Clearly not professionally printed. The serial number is just printed on the label, not a sticker as is usual. The serial number, which was listed as new and unused, does not work on the official website to register the software with the software publisher. The seller was kicked off eBay sometime between when I bought the software and when it arrived.
When attempting to leave feedback I'm told by eBay that they are "no longer a registered user". What are my options? eBay has no options that I can find for reporting a counterfeit item, and I don't feel comfortable returning it since the seller is no longer on eBay, I have no guarantee of a refund.

·1 year agoYou may - or may not - have a problem with opening a return case on eBay, depending on why the seller is NARU. If it doesn’t work on eBay, contact your bank/credit card company about doing a chargeback.

Ebay has a 30-day Money Back Guarantee for Buyer Purchase. If you received an Item that is not as shown in the listing, you have up to 30 days from delivery to open an Item Not as Described refund request. This applies whether the Seller is still on eBay or not. But you will need to open that request on the eBay site, on time, for eBay to get involved.
To open the request, go to your Purchase History and find the item and open the request there.
