Counterfeit Hermès Scarf
I have been buying on eBay’s platform since 2003. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars purchasing Hermès scarf. In October, I purchased an Hermès scarf for just under $900. It did not go through eBay’s authentication process as it should have. I was not able to confirm its authenticity - or lack thereof - until early December when I could compare the scarf to that of a friend who bought hers directly at a boutique. I opened a claim with eBay which denied the claim OF A STRICTLY FORBIDDEN COUNTERFEIT ITEM with no final appeal because I was outside the 30 day window. I provided the messages I had with the seller who claimed that the scarf was authentic because it was his grandmothers. In the interim, the seller listed again the exact same scarf using the same photos as were posted for the scarf I bought. As soon as I pointed out to him that my scarf was counterfeit and he was now selling a second counterfeit item, he cancelled the listing because of “an error in the listing.†After eBay denied my claim, he re-listed the item and now a second person has purchased a counterfeit scarf in spite of my warning to eBay. This seller has been on eBay since July 2025. I repeat that I have been a buyer on eBay for 22 years, spending a small fortune on Hermès scarves, yet eBay has chosen to take his word over mine and allow the sale of another counterfeit scarf. I had a long chat conversation with someone named Tristhan who told me that they would go through the bank to provide me a refund. It has now been 12 days. I am unable to reach a real human at eBay to handle this. Aside from this transaction, I have had good experience with eBay, but this sloppiness of taking a new seller side over a long term buyer to allow additional sales of counterfeit items is a red flag. eBay is allowing AI to make decisions that are harming its customers. I hope this gets the attention of a living, breathing human at eBay who can make this right, including for any others scammed by this seller stardogshopping11

I'm very sorry that happened.
This was bad advice, and I am sorry you were given it:
Tristhan who told me that they would go through the bank to provide me a refund. It has now been 12 days.
Here are some steps to take:
1) (Optional) File a written police report with your police department. They won't investigate, but you want a copy of the report.
2) File an Internet Crime IC3.gov case https://www.ic3.gov/Home/ComplaintChoice
It's a simple form
3) If the seller used US Mail, file a Postal inspector mail fraud report https://www.uspis.gov/report
It's a simple form
4) Appeal here and upload your documentation (items 1-3 above) https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/-/appeal-outcome-case-buyer?id=4039
Should eBay rule against you, then you will use the documentation you gathered to file a credit card chargeback. Only you can file this, eBay can't.
