Counterfeit bill

I purchased a civil war era oversized note on eBay. It was shipped and delivered just fine. About a month later I submitted the note for grading. It took about two months for that to be returned to me and was determined to be counterfeit. I contacted the seller and he initially said he would make it right and accept the return. He said he contacted eBay and was told it was after 90 days so nothing can be done. Seller admitted that was not right but then stopped responding to my repeated messages...

eBay's Money Back Guaranty is only good for 30 days from receipt of the item. So eBay cannot help you with this. The seller would have been able to make a refund within 90 days of the purchase through eBay had they wanted even though the eBay guaranty expired. Now that more than 90 days has passed there is nothing the seller can do through eBay. They would have to make any refund outside of eBay. This is now between you and the seller.

@supermex1967 Sorry that happened. If it is past 90 days the seller actually can NOT refund from their eBay account even if they want to. An agent can not issue the refund either.

You can report the seller using this form> https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022 > Suspicious seller activity> other then say in the box that the seller sold counterfeit currency. Include the item number of the listing.

Then you will need to file a chargeback with your payment method. They CAN force a refund from the seller. The seller will also receive a $20 dispute fee.
