·2 years agoA counteroffer is a rejection of the offer being responded to (assuming it is an actual counteroffer through the Best Offer system, rather than just a message from the other party feeling you out to see if you would take that amount) and at that point the only offer on the table that can be accepted is the counteroffer.
If you are making an offer and the seller accepts it instead of countering (or rejecting or letting it expire), you are required to pay the amount of your offer (plus s/h as per the listing and sales tax if applicable to your shipping address) since there is a contract (you offered, other party accepted, that makes a contract).
If this doesn't answer the question you are trying to ask you need to be more clear about the situation and what about the result that was different than what you expected.

Mentor2 years agoIf you make an offer and the seller counters it, you must accept the counter offer before the item is sold and charged to you. If you decline or ignore the counter offer, nothing more happens once the offer period expires.
