Controversial listing, technically legal sale..
A friend of mine had recently inherited some endangered animal skin but unprocessed. It’s an African leopard skin like the entire thing from claws to head, tail, everything fully intact and for being 100 years old the leather is really soft and no fur falling out - or missing, it’s rather impressive and she feels it deserves to be somewhere that it can be taken care of and respected not cut up and sold for garments. Looking around online similar big cat/endangered fur have been sold, additionally I’m previous auctions some have fetched $100k to $300k because the era 1920s vintage is highly desirable. She had reached out to a local California taxidermist who gave her some credible information basically it’s so old it’s dead it’s tanned there’s nothing anyone can do about it and protect it from being killed and it waaay predates CITIES law and she’s in no way affiliated with any wrongdoing or fur harvesting and its status being antique category now it should be able to be lawfully be sold if she wanted as long as it stays inside the state of California, that was the bigget piont, it’s to be sold within the state. Thats about as far as she would go asking about for fear of fish and game department trying to condensate it from her .. she’s smart and it’s hidden in a deposit box in a bank a significant distance away from her until she figures out what to do with it. There is lot of conflicting info online about this subject but logically I think as long as it ends up in the right hands there shouldn’t be any problem getting it somewhere it could be preserved via private sale or auction. Does anyone have insights on the subject? @eBay would you allow this vintage antique to be sold from your platform? I don’t see how it would be a big deal I’ve seen worse things sold on eBay like meth pipes and sex dolls that resemble human babies.. that’s offensive imo, but being a free country whatever, but with this thing you’d get a bigger percentage considering my friends piece could sell for tens of thousands.
