contacting an ebay seller
When I click "contact the seller" I see no way to type in a message. Is there something I need to do to set up a way ask a seller a question?

You should be able to use the "contact" link in a seller's listing or in your Purchase History to send a message to the seller.
If you are having problems, try clicking on the "Send message" text to start typing your message.
