Confused about refunding and canceling an order
Summary: tinseltown-sales is seeking advice on how to properly manage a situation where an item they sold was mistakenly recycled. They refunded the buyer immediately and explained the situation, but the order still appears to require shipping. They want to know if their actions were correct and how to properly cancel the order to resolve the issue.
I have an important question. I want to avoid problems with buyers, obviously. A buyer bought one of my items yesterday, and when it came time to pack it for shipping, I realized it had been recycled -- by accident. I immediately refunded the buyer and sent them a note explaining what happened, but it still says that I need to ship the item today. Did I do something wrong by issuing the refund right away? Was there something else I should have done first? How do I cancel the order so that it doesn't appear on my list of things to ship? Thank you.

Mentor2 weeks agoYou should have canceled the transaction, which automatically refunds, not just refunded the money. By just refunding you will now have to wait till the refund clears the buyer's account before you can go back and cancel the transaction.
