Conflicting condition/description claims

Question

There is an item on eBay which has its condition posted as "for parts or not working".

But the description also says, "Very good condition".

The seller is a bulk reseller not knowledgeable about the item in question. They are located in my region, but they refuse an in-person inspection or local pickup option.

They did however reply to my inquiry writing, "The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended."

So: If I purchase it and it turns out to be damaged or non-functional, do I have a valid claim with eBay to demand a return & refund?

I have tried contacting eBay to ask about this, but they will not talk to me.

@kbjorling < condition posted as "for parts or not working" . . . seller is a bulk reseller not knowledgeable about the item > The seller might be indulging a mistaken belief that choosing "parts or not working" will eliminate the possibility of returns. Check his other listings and see if he consistently does the same thing. If not, then he might be reusing an earlier listing and missed some stuff when he tried to edit/update it for the current item.

@kbjorling They are taking advantage of the seller protection provided by listing as for parts or not working.

This reduces the Money Back Guarantee time to just THREE days after the date of delivery from 30 days.

eBay can not make the seller choose a different return policy. I understand that this is frustrating. It is not possible to view items prior to paying.

I personally would find another seller. Unless their feedback looked VERY good. Don't just go by the % if it's less than 100% be sure to check to see what others have written.
