confirming an in person pick up

Question

Hello, thank you for any help here... I forgot to scan or get the code from a customer on a local pick up item. We have been in touch to remedy the confirmation, however he cannot find any code to give me and says there's nothing in his account showing a code for this. He has paid for the item, but the funds won't be released until I provide a code. I cannot figure out how to reach an ebay rep on the phone. Suggestions??

@kgregerson Was the item sold with Local Pick and not shipping?

If it was then the buyer should go to their purchase history on a computer and select view order details. They will see the 6 digit code there.

If it was NOT sold with Local Pick up and had shipping but you let the buyer pick it up then the buyer will NOT have a code. In that case all you can do is select mark as shipped from the drop down menu next to the item.

In the future this is how to change an item that is sold to local pick up:

Let the buyer know that in order to not have a ding for no tracking and have proof of delivery for eBay that these are the steps you have to take.

1. Cancel the sale as problem with buyers address

2. Refund the buyer.

3. Relist with Local Pick Up only and they buy again

4. When the buyer comes to pick up the item you enter the code in the eBay app>

For proof of pickup you can:

use the eBay app to scan the QR code the buyer received through email
use the eBay app to manually enter the 6-digit code the buyer received through email
To scan the QR code:

Go to Selling on the eBay App.
Go to the Sold tab.
Select the Arrange Pickup banner.
Tap the Scan to confirm pickup button.
If the buyer doesn't have the QR code available, ask them for the 6-digit code they received through email and manually enter it in the app.
