Concern Regarding Transparency of Promotional Fees on Seller Offers
I am writing to formally express my concern regarding the current lack of transparency surrounding promotional fees applied to offers associated with promoted listings.
In the past, sellers were able to clearly see the promotional ad percentage connected to an offer before making the decision to accept it. This information was extremely important for evaluating the real profitability of a transaction. However, over the past several months, this visibility appears to have been removed or significantly reduced.
As a result, sellers may now receive offers that do not clearly disclose the additional promotional fee that will later be charged if the offer is accepted. Since promoted listing fees can range from approximately 10% ~ 22% in addition to standard selling fees, the absence of this information makes it very difficult to accurately evaluate margins and make informed business decisions.
More concerning, I have recently noticed what appears to be a new change in the system. In addition to the promotional percentage no longer being displayed, the offer itself no longer clearly indicates that it originated from a promoted listing click. Previously, sellers could at least identify that an offer was associated with a promoted listing. This development is extremely concerning because sellers may unknowingly accept offers carrying substantial additional promotional fees without any visible warning,
Recently, I accepted an offer that did not indicate any promotional fee or promotional listing connection during the review process. Only after the transaction was completed did I discover that an additional 16% promotional fee had been applied. Unfortunately, this reduced the transaction to virtually no profit. Had this information been clearly disclosed beforehand, I would have either declined the offer or submitted a counteroffer that properly reflected the total selling costs.
As sellers, we rely on eBay to provide clear, transparent, and complete fee information so we can responsibly manage our business operations on the platform. The inability to clearly identify all applicable fees prior to accepting an offer creates unnecessary financial risk and undermines confidence in the selling process.
I respectfully request that eBay reconsider this policy and restore full visibility of promotional fee percentages during the offer review stage. Providing sellers with complete cost transparency before acceptance would greatly improve fairness, trust, and informed decision-making on the platform.
