Complex Delivery Option
Hello,
I have a large item I want to list, but I want to offer a delivery option that will give me a leg up on the competition. There are several items just like or similar to mine, so I want to offer a $75 delivery to certain cities to expand my customer base. It is a rough 130-150 mile radius from my home. Explaining this is easy enough, but I would like to be paid for this through eBay. Does eBay allow this type of shipping charge? It has to be part of the actual sale, just like any other item where shipping is chosen and paid for at the time of purchase. Am I over-thinking this? Is it just a simple shipping option? Any advice is appreciated.

Mentor2 years agoJust select Calculated Shipping. Enter the packaged weight and the dimensions of the package. I only use USPS because my items are mostly under 3 pounds. For heavy items, you might consider Fed Ex or UPS as they are usually more cost effective. With calculated shipping, buyers closer to your zip code will pay less ship[ping than those further away.

OP2 years agoThis thing will barely fit in the bed of my truck and it weighs maybe 70-80 pounds. The only other option is for someone to come pick it up. I am hoping someone will live within the 150 mile radius or be willing to meet me half way (making them maybe 300 miles away). I am going to ask UPS in the coming days. Thanks.

There is no way to offer shipping to just specific cities or states (other than excluding HI & AK).
Would you actually be shipping it via a freight carrier so that you have tracking? If yes, you can include estimated freight costs in your listing - show the $75 for buyers in x area. Call you local freight companies and get sample quotes for a couple of cities farther away and include those in the description, too.

OP2 years agoI actually planned on packing in my truck myself and driving within 150 miles for $75. Thanks.

OK, I thought maybe that was the plan 🙂
I would list it is local pickup only, then in the description you can say I can deliver within 150 miles for a flat charge of $75. If a buyer wants this option, then create a listing for the shipping, like this -
https://www.ebay.com/itm/115889244971
I would list it under specialty services.
