Company selling fraudulent item...

I bought an item on Ebay. The item is fake. Seller agree to accept return but I need to pay for shipping first & then I'll be reimbursed. This seems like a scam. Trust is already gone due to selling items as real but they aren't. Shouldn't the seller send a prepaid return label. This item is going to CHINA. This is going to be expensive and I have no confidence that I will receive any money at all for the return OR the cost of shipping. Is this how this really works? Seems like the seller should be a little more accountable than this.

If the seller is from another country, s/he will have to send enough funds to cover return shipping before you return it, because the seller cannot provide a shipping label good in this country, OR they can refund in full without having you return the item.

If the seller does neither, click on the link to Ask ebay to step in, when it shows up in the case.

Thank you the reply. The estimated amount of shipping is $151. This is nuts! I'm assuming the fraudulent seller is banking that most people will not spend this much time trying to get refunded. I'll go back and look for prior eBay emails.

Here is the seller's response:

"Yes, international shipping costs are very expensive and will exceed $30. I do not think returning it would be cost-effective for you. Would you be willing to keep it? If you are willing to keep it, I am willing to offer you a refund of $20 as compensation, but I need you to close the return first. Is that okay? "

The listed cost was 34.99 & the total was $43 after shipping.

When I click on the link in the reply from eBay, i just have the option to click if the item has shipped, contact seller or close the return. Getting BACK to somewhere to email eBay has been a dead end search.

I guess I've been very lucky in the past with my eBay experiences and have not purchased items that are not as described. Ugh:(

Do not close the return. They owe you a FULL refund.

In a couple days, you should be able to have Ebay step in to help you:

Find the item in your Purchases.
Select See request details (if your item didn't arrive) or See return details (if you're trying to return an item).
Select Ask eBay to step in and help.
Select a reason from the dropdown menu, then select Confirm.

Per ebay 2/22/24 email;

Good news. Your return request is approved. The seller will provide you with a return shipping label. If you don't hear back from the seller, we're available to step in and help beginning Feb 22, 2024.

When I go my purchases, I get the choice of CONTACT SELLER, MARK AS SHIPPED and CLOSE THE RETURN.

I do not see this magical link anywhere:(
