Combined shipping cost

I did my first combined shipping yesterday. It took me a while and some research to figure out how to do it. I am so confused on how eBay comes up with the combined calculated shipping charge. After I packed my items, I weighed and measured the box as usual but I could not make changes to the weight or measurements that EBay calculated. When I took the box to the post office, I had them double check my postage and it was insufficient. I wenrt ahead and had them add the additional postage but it ended up costing me an extra $4 out of my pocket. How can I avoid this in the future, what did I do wrong!

Mentor3 weeks ago@pated3 If you wish to use a calculated combined shipping rule keep in mind that it only combines the weights, not the dimensions so this is best for items that will not be over 1 cubic foot when combined.

Mentor3 weeks agoI use calculated shipping. I created a rule to ADD THE WEIGHTS here: https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf
Before I print the label, I can make changes to the weight as well as the dimensions of the box, because ebay doesn't change the dimensions of the box when 2 sold listings are combined.
When you print the shipping label using ebay shipping, you are charged the commercial rate. When you pay at the counter, you are charged retail rates.
