Collecting sales tax from states eBay does not collect sales tax from
Hello Everyone,
I have a question on collecting sales tax for items sold in states that eBay does not collect taxes for sellers. These states Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Missouri currently do not have a marketplace facilitator law, you are still required to collect sales tax from that buyer. Is there a way to set it up a rule to collect from these states? Florida sales tax can be different depending on the city, Miami buyers should be charged 7% and 8.5% in Tampa.

OP2 years agoThank you for your answer. I do understand everything you mentioned, my question was Is there a way to set up my store to recognize the states that DO NOT currently have marketplace facilitator laws for the states below. Almost like creating a rule that automatically recognizes the states listed below and charges taxes accordingly.
Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri.

Mentor2 years agoThose states do have facilitator laws and venues like ebay already process tax for them. You do not need to do anything special if you sell through ebay to those states.

I don't think you did understand my previous answer. YOU do not have to set up anything...Ebay already takes care of handling sales tax. Those states you mentioned DO have marketplace facilitator laws.
Again, you do NOT have to do anything in regards to sales tax. EBAY charges buyers sales tax based on their shipping address.

Sellers need not collect sales tax, Ebay takes care of that depending on the shipping address of the buyer and the buyer's tax jurisdiction. The states that you mentioned in your post DO require sales tax be collected from online markeplace facilitator, and Ebay charges buyers depending on where they live then remits the tax payments to the states.
