Click and collect missed collection. What to do?
Hi, So I won an auction on an item just before Christmas and chose click and collect. Then with Christmas and new year all happening and then into the new year I've forgotten about the order, until I've started wandering 'oh yeah, what happened to that?'
Of course I'd gone over the time that the store would hold the item for and so they didn't have it, they also had no record of what they'd done with it until one particular guy said that he himself gave the parcel to Yodel.
Now here's the thing, the ebay seller sent the item to the store using royal mail signed for. And so there's been a change of delivery company with the store giving it to yodel. I can't get any information from Yodel because one its almost impossible to get a human on the phone and 2, of course, being that it was originally a royal mail delivery I have no tracking number with Yodel.
I've contacted the seller, who says that they are on holiday, and so I do not know if its been returned, and even if it has, how am I supposed to know? and how am I supposed to be able to prove it if they deny it? So it seems basically, the store kept the item (a small package) for just seven days (less than the 10 they say they hold onto parcels for) and because I haven't come they've basically given it and my money away.
Obviously I know that I am at fault for not checking ebay and picking the item up within the seven days, but I don't think that should mean you lose both the item and the money!
Does anyone have any knowledge of how this all works and what yodel are likely to do with my parcel? I'm a bit angry at the store because 7 days after the christmas and new year break is never enough time! And it was only a tiny lightweight parcel, its hardly asking a lot to hold onto it a bit longer is it!
Thoughts anyone?
