Christmas tree ornaments rip-off
Summary: jefrock49 expressed concern about sellers on eBay charging high prices for handmade fabric Christmas tree ornaments by Gladys Boalt, which are available at lower prices on the creator's website. golfingaddict noted that sellers can set their own prices and that buyers should research and make informed decisions. monroe67 agreed, suggesting that not purchasing from overpriced sellers is the best approach, as eBay cannot monitor all listings for price discrepancies.
There are sellers here selling handmade fabric Christmas tree ornaments created by Gladys Boalt. The sellers are calling these ornaments "rare" and charging exorbitant amounts for them, when these same ornaments are immediately available new on the boalt gallery website for half the cost. I know this because I've been collecting these wonderful treasures for years to hang on my holiday tree and I often visit the boalt gallery website to check on what I might want to purchase from her workshop for next year's tree. The perfect example are two ebay sellers selling a pre-owned Chocolate Lady dancer from "The Nutcracker" series, calling it "rare" and"vintage" and charging way above the price listed on the boalt gallery website for the same ornament new and immediately available. Is there any way to call these people out, other than messaging them and slapping their wrists to no avail?

No, there is no way to call out sellers to eBay.
Slapping the wrists of those sellers may have no effect on them, anyway.
The best thing to do is NOT to buy from those sellers.
eBay cannot monitor or study every listing created by every seller, to verify how their prices compare to retail, or whether the items are indeed "rare."

Mentor3 weeks agoIt is great that you know where to buy them for a lower price.
Sellers are not required to meet a certain price, and they are allowed to charge anything. If they charge too much, no one will buy. They might be buying them at the gallery and then later deciding to sell them. You don't know all the details.
You may not like it, but the sellers are really not breaking any rules.
Since this artist is a known artist, the buyers need to research what they are buying and make the personal choice to buy on eBay or at the gallery.
