Charging my account without my knowledge

Question

I always pay for my items, I won an item over night and logged in this morning and had a count down clock to charge me, In the past I have always payed within 12-24 hrs. I could not stop the count down clock as I was waiting for my bank to open to move funds around and got a charge for not having the funds in. How do I change this?

For auctions or offers if the seller requires a payment method in advance, you may have to provide a payment method such as a credit or debit card. That payment method will be remembered by eBay for the next time you need to provide a payment method for an auction or offer, and that method will be indicated on your eBay Payments page.

eBay cannot charge a payment method without your permission, or one that you have not linked to your account or your bid for that purpose. Providing that payment method when you place your bid authorizes eBay to charge that payment method after the auction ends.

You may want to avoid bidding on items where a payment method is called for on the bidding page, or else move the funds around prior to placing your bid.
