Charged for express payout when I never enrolled
Summary: retro-metro shared their experience of being enrolled in Express Payouts on eBay without opting in, leading to unexpected charges of $2.00 multiple times across two accounts. Initially informed by a representative that it was likely a technical glitch, they later discovered both accounts were set to Express Payout and had to manually change the settings back. After speaking with a supervisor, they were refunded the fees. They are seeking to know if others have encountered similar issues.
Have any other members been enrolled in Express Payouts without actually enrolling? I have 2 eBay accounts and it looks like I was enrolled right around July 7th 2026 on both accounts, which is weird because I rarely log into one of them. I was charged $2.00 3 times on one account and twice on the other account, both dating back to July. The first rep I spoke to looked over my settings and said I should not have been charged and that it was most likely a technical glitch that she would forward to their technical team and request the credits for both accounts and that I should hear back within 24-48 hours. One week later I called and went over everything again and this time the rep said there was no glitch and she could not credit me since it showed both accounts were setup for express payout. She walked me through the settings and indeed, it showed Express Payout as the preferred method. The rep showed me how to change it back to standard payout, which the first rep missed completely. Evidently, you do not have to initiate the payout for it to be considered express and that even a scheduled payout to your bank account will be charged the $2.00 fee, if you are enrolled. I let her know I did not sign up for this and requested a supervisor. All my payouts should be standard to my bank account. I'm never in any hurry to get the payout and it's always there the next day. After some discussion with a supervisor, I was eventually credited all the fees back. It's just weird because I did not change either of my payment methods to express at any time. Anyone else have this issue?

Mentor3 weeks ago@retro-metro As my fellow Mentor said ALL payouts to debit cards have a $2 fee, not just Express Payout. Just go to this page and change it back to your checking account> https://www.ebay.com/mes/summary

Mentor3 weeks agoIf you have any payouts sent to a debit card, there will be a $2 charge.

OP3 weeks agoYes, I know. I had it setup to be deposited to my bank account not a debit card. But, it doesn’t matter now. You can still be charged the $2 even if you have deposits go to your bank account, if you are enrolled in express payouts, which I never signed up for.
