Charged for a Package Not Delivered
I bought a $12.69 item on eBay in April 2026. A few weeks later, the seller emailed me to say my package had been delivered, but it hadn't. I was at home when I received the email notification.
I immediately contacted the seller to report that the item was NOT delivered and an eBay agent for assistance. They advised me to wait a few more days and request a refund. They added, "eBay Money Back Guarantee: Get the item you ordered or your money back. "
Today was the day I was supposed to confirm my package was not delivered, and I did. When I requested a refund, their reply within five minutes was " We're sorry you had a problem with your purchase. However, the seller provided tracking information that shows the item was delivered to your address. After reviewing all the details of this case, we determined that you won't receive a refund."
Losing $12.69 is not the end of the world, but if their sellers are getting away with this behavior and eBay is not honoring their "online purchase guarantee", this is unacceptable.
To make the situation even more frustrating, every time I tried at least 5 times to reach out to the seller for assistance, their cookie-cutter reply was: "Tracking shows that the package has been delivered. Please contact the local post office to inquire." Their shipping company does not have access to USPS mailboxes; why would they suggest this as a valid solution?
I will continue to resolve this issue with an eBay agent and stop payment on my credit card. I just want other potential buyers to be wary of buying anything on eBay or any other site that doesn't stand behind its services.

Mentor4 months agoTake the tracking number down to your local carrier's office and have them check their GPS for where the package was delivered. If it was NOT addressed to you and your address, have the clerk state that on their letterhead. They don't need to state the name/address attached to the tracking number, just that it was not addressed to YOU.

Explain that the seller is using fake tracking numbers
Include these phrases:
Seller uploaded tracking not associated with my transaction
Tracking details were not accurate
Seller use a false tracking number
Don't write a novel, it's initially being read by a computer, that's why I want you to use those 3 specific phrases in the message.
