Charged Extra for an item shipped in a flat rate box via ground shipping
I paid $8.50 for Ground shipping of an item. The seller shipped it using a flat rate box so I had to pay an extra $11.40. I believe I should be refunded for that amount but can't seem to get anywhere with this issue. I would have refused the item but someone from my family accepted the package and just paid it. The seller refuses to refund the money. Ebay says the case is closed and I can't appeal. What's my next course of action? Yes it was only $11.40 but it's the prinicipal of the matter and the fact that the seller doesn't seem to think they are at fault. Help!

eBay can not force the seller to reimburse you. You could have messaged the seller before paying the shortage to see if he would send you the money. If not, then you could have refused the delivery and gotten a full refund.
I would put him on your blocked list so he can’t retaliate, then I would leave negative feedback stating only the facts like - “seller put ground advantage label on priority box. I had to pay the difference and seller will not reimburse me for the postage due.â€
If he offers to reimburse you in exchange for changing your feedback, answer carefully so it can not be construed as extortion. Something like ‘I will not trade the feedback for a refund, but if my feedback was no longer true, I would want to change it.’ Do not change it before sends the refund, if he does happen to offer.

OP2 years agoHe refuses to refund as he doesn’t think he’s at fault. I didn’t refuse it because my hubby picked it up. I would have if I was the one who got it.

Some people just have to learn the hard way. Someone will refuse one of his packages eventually, and then he will have to pay his po to get his package. Plus then he will be on their radar - the postal clerks are very protective of their priority packaging.
