eBay is legally required to charge and collect sales taxes at the rate in the zip code of the delivery address.
Be sure you are using the four-digit extension to your five-digit zip code. This will help eBay's computers pinpoint your location and apply the appropriate sales tax percentage.
Also, be aware that more than half of the states do require sales taxes on shipping costs as well as the cost of the Item you buy.

OP1 year agoI double checked on the item and there was no shipping charges, I have the four digit zip code extension, checked my address w/state Tax link, surprise, surprise after 56 yrs I'm still in the county and listed as such, but I'm being charged an extra 2.5% sales tax that is the rate for the city that I do not live within its borders. I cannot hardly roust up any live people via Ebay to complain about them continuing to overcharge me. Once, I talked to someone about the first purchase. They'll rectify the charges within 60 days. But, they do nothing about the next purchase as they are still overcharging me 2.5% on every purchase. That's what we call being fed Arkansas round steak. Ya'll might know that as Baloney ...

ETA: My second purchase did have a shipping charge and they included that in assessing the sales tax. Problem being they/Ebay is still charging me the higher city rate. Close to double dipping.
