changing shipping to local pick up after a purchase

Hi,

When shipping an item I noticed the buyer lives close to me so I messaged them to offer local pick up and a refund of the shipping fees they paid. How do I change the order to local pick up so I'm not penalized for not shipping the item?

You can not change the delivery method after the sale. If the buyer would like to pick up the item in person, the way to handle it is to cancel the sale using problem with buyer's address and relist the item with the correct shipping method for them to repurchase. With local pick up the buyer receives a QR code and a digit code that the seller enters into the eBay APP as proof of delivery.

If you simply have the buyer pick up the item without changing to the correct shipping you do not have proof of delivery and will loose your seller protection for an item not received. Also if your funds are on hold they will be released, if the buyer does not make a return or refund claim, after the full hold time.
