Changing shipping address
Hi all, I’m still pretty new to the selling online. It’s been a year and I never had a buyer ask me to send an item to their vacation spot.. they have their home address on the shipping label. I received a message saying please send to this address instead of the one on my label. How can tracking happen ? I’m just uncomfortable. I told them I would look into it and they seemed annoyed . The thing is they knew they would be at another address before paying shipping.. a message came through with a different address followed by a payed. Is this common? Do sellers do this? They said they do it all the time and it’s never an issue? Thanks for your help.

For seller protection, you are required to ship to the address on the payment. Assuming the member making the request for a change has the same member ID as your buyer, you should cancel the transaction and relist so the buyer can repurchase it, instructing him to choose/add the correct address at checkout.
If the member ID is different from your buyer's, it's a scammer and you can report that to eBay using the report link in the Actions dropdown in the message.

OP2 years agoThank you. I asked them to please do that and they got defensive and refuse . They said I need to write up a separate label and then of course made it sound like this happens all the time and I am the only seller who would make this “ a big dealâ€. I appreciate your help so very much. Thanks

The member contacting you has the same ID as your buyer, right? If so, go ahead and cancel. If you want to sell to them, follow the rest of the instructions I gave you. If you don't want to sell to them, after cancelling, add the buyer to your blocked buyer list here:

Sounds like trouble brewing to me. What I would do is cancel the transaction, choosing problem with address as the reason, and then block her/him. https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/BuyerBlock

Mentor2 years agoHi @fraw58 They may in fact do it all the time to sellers who aren't as smart as you. There is no way to know how many Item Not Received claims they've opened against sellers who may have fallen for their nonsense and shipped to an address that voided the seller protections. Congratulate yourself on recognizing that the request is not acceptable. Their complaints and refusal to adjust only confirms that they are bad actors. Get yourself out of the transaction and block. Then bookmark your Blocked Bidder & Buyer List (BBL ) or otherwise make it easy to access, because once you've had a transaction with a member, the block list doesn't wholly block them or other accounts they may have. OP2 years agoWow! So I last updated you with the buyer agreed to have it sent to the address on their label. I printed the shipping label and they came back..
†I told you so many times not to ship there. Now they will be lost and I will get a refund and report you!â€.. ugh.. so I reached out to eBay and cancelled blocked and they put in request for refund. I’m glad they are able to view conversations between buyer and seller. What a big pain in the butt. Thankfully I was sending out tomorrow. If it went out today they would have had shoes and a refund. I should have listened to you all round one. Thanks again.
