Changing delivery type after an item has been sold
Summary: lethal_phizzle is considering dropping off a sold item in person instead of shipping it, as the buyer lives nearby. They are concerned about potential issues with tracking and receiving funds. jacbarcollectibles advises checking delivery rules specific to the eBay UK site, as in-person delivery in the USA could complicate proof of delivery. lethal_phizzle thanks them for the guidance.
Hello!
New here, so apologies if this has been asked before; I have sold an item for which the buyer has paid shipping, but when printing the label I have noticed that they live around 5 minutes away from me and it would actually make more sense to just drop off rather than play a game of courier roulette! No issue with refund or anything like that, but I was just concerned that the tracking for this will show as incomplete and I might leave myself open to not receiving funds or tracking showing as undelivered...is this something that I can do, or is it just not worth it?
Thanks everyone!

Mentor2 weeks agoHi @lethal_phizzle
I see you are located in the UK, this happens to be the US eBay Community and some processes and procedures vary between the two eBay domains. Here is a convenient link to the UK eBay Community. You will be better served by asking your question(s) there: eBay UK | eBay Community
Here in the US we advise Sellers to work with their Buyer to cancel the transaction so it can be Relisted with the Collection (we call it Local pick-up) option. The Buyer can purcahse it. Here the Buyer gets two items, a QR code and a 6-digit code. EITHER of those are given to the Seller when the Buyer Collects the item.

Mentor2 weeks agoYou are asking this question on the eBay USA site. Since rules are different on each site you should log out of this site and log onto the eBay UK site and ask the mentors there. In the USA you would not want to do this because you would not be able to prove delivery since you did not ship the item. For local pick up the buyer receives special codes to provide you to prove delivery when entered into the eBay app. So ask on your UK site for their rules about this.
