Changed USPS Ground Advantage to Priority to Cover Cost
Need help in knowing if I did this correctly. I sold a product on eBay and it selected USPS Ground Advantage. I Took it to the Post Office and they said it was not enough to cover the cost. They didn't know how Ebay handled the extra cost w/ Pitney Bowes. So I sent it Priority. So how should I handle this transaction so I know the seller received the package? I went and changed the tracking number to the priority number in the sellers transaction and messaged the buyer of the change.
Will eBay know if he (the buyer) received it w/ this change in tracking number? Is the tracking number the means for how eBay knows to pay the seller when they receive the package even though it was sent Priority rather than ground advantage? I understand why "shipping is free" so much more convenient for both seller and buyer. eBay has no idea the size of your package. Is it a estimate on their part?

Mentor1 year agoYou have several things.
First, the seller is responsible for entering the correct size and weight of the package prior to listing. eBay will give you an estimate but they can't see your package, so you need to measure and weigh and put in the correct info into the listing. You found what happens if you don't.
As for the incorrect label.
1. You need to put the new tracking number into the order details.

It is important to let the buyer know the details and it is important that eBay knows the shipping details.
2. You need to cancel/void the label you did not use.
Void the label here Printing and canceling shipping labels | eBay It may take up to 21 days to get the refund, but you should cancel/void right away.

OP1 year agoAs you suggested in step #1, I updated the "USPS Ground Advantage" tracking number from eBay to the priority tracking number I received at the post office.
I've since received confirmation from eBay that my payout has been sent and the funds are now in my bank account. It seems updating the tracking number before shipping worked!
