changed my mind
How is this a valid return reason, especially when the buyer was interested enough to negociate a discount. Why is this on the menu of reasons?!

Mentor1 year ago@inkspot16 Free Returns means you accept returns for ANY reason. You can withhold the outgoing shipping cost as long as you did not have "free shipping" on the listing.
Changed mind is a buyers remorse return reason. Your return policy applies for buyers remorse returns.
If the buyer files a not as described return request then you can NOT withhold the outgoing shipping and must issue a full refund.
Since you have Free Returns and are Top Rated you qualify for seller protections on returns and can reduce the refund amount by up to 50% if the buyer doesn't return the item in the same condition sent.
An item is returned after it was used or damaged by the buyer
If you accepted a buyer's return request but the item is returned in a different condition than it was originally sent:
- We'll automatically remove any related negative or neutral feedback
- If the buyer had requested the return because the item didn't match the listing, we won't count the return in your "Item not as described" rate in service metrics
See our guidelines on how much you can deduct.Make sure you report the buyer and send the refund within 2 business days after receiving the item back. You can do this from the return request. Keep in mind that you're not eligible for fee credits when you deduct from the buyer's refund for a return that was used, altered or damaged, and you'll no longer see this option if eBay steps in to help with the return.
If we're asked to step in after you've issued the refund, it won't be counted as a case closed without seller resolution. We'll keep the return open for up to 10 days while we work with the buyer to resolve their concerns, and you won't need to do anything else.

OP1 year agoThank you-he now is upset he selected this reason and now left me a false negative with a severe warning that I am selling fake items, even though I don't have the return yet, I'm not sure how this is allowed. There was no conversation in messages between us-he got the item and then opened the changed mind claim in returns. I never spoke with him-thought the return was just going on and two days ago woke-up to this negative rant. eBay will not take the neg review down, it is like a novel-this was a cheap item-if he would have spoken to me before I would have told him to keep it-not worth the return money and time.
thanks for your time and letting me vent
