Change PO Box address to street address by buyer after purchase
Sold item. Shipping from DE to MA around $7 charged to buyer thru eBay. Buyer messaged requesting change of address to CA. Original address is PO box. I attempted to print label, but eBay does not allow change of zip code which required me to pay at post office. With the new address, shipping was additional $10. Have other sellers experienced this? This seems like a technique for buyers to decrease cost for themselves by establishing PO Box in region of seller, making purchase and change to street address after purchase to address out of region. Don’t know way to recoup difference thru eBay if possible.

·1 year agoDid you verify that the request to change the address actually came from the same ID as the buyer of your item? Scammers will contact sellers pretending to be the buyer and ask them to change the address actually, but will really just be diverting someone else’s package to their address (which is likely an overseas shipper or some address they can collect it from, but not one tied to them personally).

You are required to ship to the address Ebay gave to you in order to keep your seller protection, NOT an address the buyer provided in a message.
Be forewarned that the buyer could possibly file a refund request due to item not received, and Ebay would find in their favor since you cannot prove you shipped the item to the correct address Ebay provided.
