CC was stolen and used to deliver things to my home, how to return when it wasn't with my account?
My credit card information was stolen back around late May and, for some reason I don't understand, was used to purchase ~$4,000 in goods to be delivered to my home.
However, this was not done using my own personal eBay account/email.
So, while I was able to cancel the purchase with my bank, and prevent the funds being sent, the order was still sent and delivered to my home because I had no purchase order, no order number, etc. at the time with which to cancel it through eBay. Our hope was by immediately cancelling the payment (within an hour), the delivery wouldn't go through.
But, the items arrived a couple of weeks later, and I now have the order #, sales record #, and the seller's information from the packing slip that came with the items.
I contacted my bank to confirm the payment was cancelled, and told them about the delivery, and they told me I should attempt to contact the seller to try and have the items returned and see if they're willing to cover the shipping costs (the items are quite large and useless to me).
I've tried contacting the seller through eBay using my personal account, but I didn't get a reply. After the third attempt they admitted that they've been wary about contacting me directly and were asking eBay what to do since the information I have, and the buyer's information they have don't match up (I have the address, order #, etc. but the messages aren't coming from the account that actually 'bought' the items). They told me I should go through eBay themselves to start a case.
Problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to 'go through eBay' to resolve this. All of the customer support systems seem designed to handle cases where you're trying to return items, dispute payments, etc. for items that have been purchased through your account. But these were never purchased through my account - the fraudster used some other account, with my credit card to have items delivered to my home address.
I'd rather not have my bank breathing down my neck to explain why I've ended up with these goods, without paying for them ... all I'm trying to do is get $4,000 of goods returned back to a seller on behalf of my bank who is probably out $4,000 and is investigating the case on their own end.
But, AFAICT there's no pathway to go through customer service for this kind of situation.
How do I 'contact eBay' to start a return/fraud case for a purchase using an account that wasn't even mine?

Since the purchases were not made through your Ebay account and the credit card company should give you credit for the fraudulent charges, you are not obligated to return the items.
Dispose of them however you see fit.
