Carefully worded listing may misrepresent $38,000 item...
There is a Rolex here under the heading, "ROLEX 1016 EXPLORER l TIFFANY & CO RARE STAINLESS STEEL AUTOMATIC DATES 1978" ...
...that accurately describes what they are selling, but it is misleading because it is likely not what it implies...
I suspect this a 1016 with an "original" Tiffany Dial, but this dial was completely refinished in Germany, along with dozens of others, years ago.
...so it is 'original', but its a refinished part, and it likely did not belong to this watch...
The dial on his watch looks great... his hands look terrible... the fumes of both 2 should have decayed at the same rate.
The refinished dials "were acquired from IWJG, the trader there said that this was a Refinished (Reprinted, Repaired) Dials from Germany. And the German Watchsmith got the Used & Old Material from the Rolex or Rolex Dial Manufacturer and then reprinted it". I do not know when this was done, but possibly the 90s.
So the listing is all accurate, but misleading... to the tune of being 20k over priced.

OP3 years agoSorry, it was supposed to say LUMES (the radioactive component that decays over time, at a constant rate.)
