Can't Send Message to Potential Buyer due to "Buy or Sell Outside eBay" (error e178898-1112487x)
Hello Mentors,
I am trying to send a message to a potential buyer as a follow up to a question they asked.
However, I am continually encountering this eBay error that is blocking my message being sent: "If you're a seller do not include contact info to buy or sell outside eBay. Messages are reviewed and you may be charged a final value fee. {e178898-1112487x}"
I have nothing in the message that includes any sort of contact information. Another headache: I originally tried including the literal message in my post to this "Ask A Mentor" board, so you could all see there was no contact information in the message, and maybe give suggestions to correct my language in order for the message to be sent properly without this error. However, with the contents of my message included in this post it is marked as spam. Maybe I can post it as a comment?

OP3 years agoWell, what I ended up doing was posting the substantive part of the message in the item description and then directly messaging the potential buyer to refer to the updated item description. It is relevant information to anyone interested in the item, so that is probably good for everyone.
It is still annoying to me that I cannot send a perfectly fine message to a potential buyer- however I understand that selling outside of ebay is real issue. I just have no idea what "filter" would have caused my response message to be flagged in such a way.
HOPEFULLY, my listing doesn't get flagged with the same "filter" that blocked me from messaging the potential buyer! If anyone is interested, here is the listing
