Can't mark an item as sent because I didn't pay for postage through eBay.
Summary: silvertongue explained a situation where they sold two items to the same buyer and shipped them in one box after purchasing postage at a post office. However, they encountered an issue marking one item as sent on eBay because it required buying a packing slip. disneyshopper advised using eBay's shipping options to receive discounts and automatic tracking but noted that funds might be held if tracking isn't provided. mudshark61369 suggested checking with the eBay Australia community, as processes might differ from the U.S. site. silvertongue appreciated the advice and planned to review options for future sales.
Hello hello,
Apologies if this is a basic or silly question, but I am stuck.
I recently sold two items to the same buyer, and the options for postage were being funnelled through ebay, rather than what I normally do (go to a post office and just pay for postage in person). I bought the postage at the post office, packing both items into a single box to save the buyer some postage. I shipped it out and was able to mark one of the items as sent, but the other one won't allow me to do that, prompting me to pay for the packing slip. I've messaged the seller to inform them about the situation, so everything will be good on that end, but I'm wondering how to clear the overdue status and free the funds without paying for shipping again.
Cheers,
Paul

The info provided earlier is correct for ebay.com the U.S. based site, but it may be different on your home site, ebay.com.au try posting your question on its community to make sure it is correct for the Australia based site.

Mentor3 weeks agoWhen you pay for shipping at the post office, you are paying the retail counter rate. If you buy the postage through ebay, you will be paying the commercial rate, which means you get a discount and the tracking is automatically uploaded to the transactions.
Here is how to combine shipping in the future:
Go to
Seller Hub > Orders > Awaiting shipment
Locate both items. Click the box in front of each one. Click the SHIPPING tab at the top, click to PRINT labels. On the next screen, enter the weight and dimensions of the package, pay and print the label.
If you cannot enter the tracking number for the package you sent, or use the Mark as Shipped option, ebay will hold the payout for 31 days and release it if the buyer does not file an Item Not Received case.

OP3 weeks agoHi! Thanks for the reply.
It didn't seem that way when I compared, it was actually a dollar cheaper to go with the post office, but I'll give it a bit more of a comprehensive look when next something sells.
Thank you so much for your help!!
