Can't list my e-bike without UL 2849 certification

Question

I'm trying to sell my e-bike, and an error message pops up saying that the bike needs UL 2849 certification. The manufacturer, SoHoo, does not note this anywhere in their documentation or on their website.

With that said, i see MANY e-bike listings that DO NOT note this certification.

How do they get to list their ebikes without this requirement.

The apparently UL 2849 NON-CERTIFIED e-bikes are listed mostly in the "Electric Bikes" catagory and at least one in "Bicycles". My search criteria was "e-bike, folding, fat tire, step thru", and these listings can be found here. These are both New and Used.

I donâ€™t know when the UL listing became a requirement. I looked at 2 SoHoo bike listings that have been active since before Nov 2022, so it is possible that these listings were created before the requirement.

Today, there is no way around it.

What category are those other e-bikes listed in?
