Can't contact ebay to cancel a sale

Question

I've sold on ebay before but suddenly they want my social security number, which I am unwilling to give them. I need to count cancel a sale. I've made to a buyer because they did not tell me.They required my the social security number until after the sale was made.

eBay is required to collect data on sellers to comply with US law on "Know Your Customer" (KYC), as well as IRS regulations.

Unless your state requires a 1099-K at a lower level, you won't get one from eBay for 2026 unless you have $20,000 in sales and 200 transactions in 2026.
