can't contact ebay about decision to embargo a listed item
I have a collection of cigar boxes I am selling on ebay. One of the boxes was identified by ebay as originating in Cuba. However, all the boxes in my collection were sourced from a local cigar retailer in Indiana. I personally did the cigar buying for this retailer for many years, and I know and personally delt with all of the cigar manufacturers that supplied this retailer. Anyone in the cigar industry knows that most cigars are manufactured in the Dominican Republic or elsewhere in Central America, and that NO retailer in the United States has any legal option to buy cigars from Cuba.
The specific brand of cigar box currently embargoed by ebay is Romeo Y Juliet. That is grown and assembled in the Dominican Republic by Altadis U.S.A., and sold to thousand of cigar retailers in the United States.
It is true that some high end cigar brand names (like Romeo Y Juliet, Cohiba, Montecristo, etc., etc.) are licensed and sold both in Cuba and Dominican Republic or elsewhere, by separate manufacturers who grow the tobacco, roll the cigars, and box them up in separate countries. QUESTION: Should ebay remove listings of brand names that are used in Cuba, even when the product as sold in the U.S. is a completely separate product, sourced from different tobacco fields and factories, by different manufacturers/owners?
