Cannot change my phone number, eBay is telling me my actual phone number is not valid.
Summary: flea_market_treasures expressed frustration over being unable to change their phone number on eBay for several years. Despite contacting agents previously, the issue remains unresolved, and attempts to update the phone number through account management result in an error message saying the new number is invalid, despite it being correct. They are unable to reach anyone for security verification to resolve this issue.
I'm extremely frustrated. IT'S LITERALLY BEEN YEARS SINCE I'VE BEEN UNABLE TO CONTACT EBAY, BECAUSE I LITERALLY CANNOT CHANGE MY PHONE NUMBER. Talked to several agents over the years when I was I was actually able to get a hold of agents back then. And nobody could change my phone number. I don't understand this. I even googled it, and it said to ask for security something or other, and I can't call anybody to get through for security. THIS IS LITERALLY INSANITY. It's been years, they can't change my number and neither can i. Every time I go to account management, and attempt to change my phone number, I put my actual phone number in, as opposed to my old phone number that is no longer valid, and I get a red pop up message that says, "please and put a valid phone number". The phone number I'm putting in is my actual number, it is a valid phone number! I can't even believe this.

It might be worth trying another browser or another device to change your phone number.
Make sure you are using the correct format (just the numbers, ten digits).
Try changing your phone number using the eBay app instead of a browser.
If eBay complains your phone number does not work, perhaps try a different phone number that you have access to if you can. If that works, then try changing to the number you want.
I seem to recall an old thread about problems with phone numbers; one of the suggestions was to try selecting Canada as the country when entering the phone number. Both Canada and the US use the same (+1) international prefix for phone numbers, and something about changing the country allowed the phone number to be accepted at that time.
